Chief Coach named as Coach/Instructor of the Year 2017

Tamworth Herald organised a Spirit of Tamworth Awards scheme for people who volunteer to help in various ways throughout the Tamworth area.  Several categories were announced and members of the public were asked to write in with their suggestions of people whom they felt should be recognised for the work they do to help others.

Derek Northcote, the Club's Chief Coach, was nominated for this award and was one of four finalists in this category.  To his surprise he was announced the winner at an awards ceremony held at Drayton Manor Theme Park.  This is an accolade that Derek so deserves as he has given up his time for the last 38 years to help people with all disabilities  learn to swim and to enjoy being in the water.  From everyone at The Unicorns Derek, a very Well Done from us all and thank you for all your hard work in making the Unicorns such a successful club.
