Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults

·        The committee reserves the right to raise areas of concern to the parents and guardians of swimmers in the first instance. However if the identified concerns are not addressed the committee will pursue the following.

·        The committee of the Tamworth Unicorns Swimming Club for Disabled Persons have agreed to follow the guidelines of the National Association of Swimming Clubs for the Handicapped. (NASCH) for whom this club is affiliated. With respect to child and vulnerable person protection please refer to the appendix.

·        The committee of the Tamworth Unicorns Swimming Club for Disabled Persons have agreed to follow the guidelines of the National Association of Swimming Clubs for the Handicapped. (NASCH) for whom this club is affiliated. With respect to the Anti Bullying policy. Please refer to the appendix.

    In accordance with the previously mentioned policies the club shall elect a Welfare Officer to oversee and collate all matters related to Children and Vulnerable Adults within the club. This individual shall be a club committee member. The current post holder of this position can be obtained from the committee page of the website. The elected officer will enforce the aforementioned policies and in addition will also abide by the following additions.

·        The club Welfare Officer assumes all responsibilities of the NASCH Child and Vulnerable Person Protection Officer also referred to as the CPO in the appendix.

·        Any concerns or allegations must be recorded on the club incident record form. If required multiple copies should be utilised to accurately detail the incident. All pages used must be signed by all parties, dated and numbered.

·        The incident forms will be forwarded to the Welfare Officer who in conjunction with a fellow committee member and in accordance with the NASCH guidelines will investigate the issue.

·        The Welfare Officer will maintain a confidential record of any alegations made.

·        In the event of a conflict of interest between the Welfare Officer and any allegation two independent members of the club committee can investigate the allegation.
