The Club formed in 1974, the Club founder,Mrs Mary Farrington is now our life President. Our ethos is (It is what you can achieve that matters) which has helped build up a very friendy and pleasant club to be a part of.

In 2004 our Club were awarded  the Queens award for Voluntary Services to the Community, an achievement of which we are very proud. 2008 saw our club achieve Charitable status, charity number 1126916. We provide a friendly, voluntary service for people with disabilities, who would like to learn to, or already can swim, regardless of age, race or religion, throughout the midlands region.

Our club aims to provide a safe & secure environment giving members the opportunity to swim, or learn to swim under the experienced tuition of our team of qualified volunteer coaches. Tamworth Unicorns also swim at Galas throughout the Midlands. At present we are Staffordshire Champions, a title we have retained for the past 13 years.

Our Club meet fortnightly, on a Saturday afternoon at Wilnecote Sports Centre in Tamworth, although the club welcomes members from throughout the midlands. Every new member's swimming ability is assessed on thier first visit by our Coach, and this session is entirely free of charge. We as a rule turn no one away, everyone is very welcome to join our friendly Club.

The Committee organise social functions throughout the year, as we believe the social aspect of our Club to be as important to the members as the swimming. Why not drop by, have a chat, a swim and see how you feel.

Due to the size of the pool our swims are in 30 minute sessions, 3.15 till 3.45, 3.45 till 4.15, 4.15 till 4.45, 4.45 till 5.15 based on the swimming ability of the individual as assessed at every session by our head Coach.
